Enjoy the Singapore Skyline at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway

Hotel Jen Orchardgateway is a friendly, fresh and fuss free mid range hotel created by the Shangri-La group, thriving loud and proud in Singapore since 15 September 2014.

OUR FAVOURITE TRAVEL TIPS

⭐️ TRAVEL INSURANCE — We recommend you always take out travel insurance before your next vacation. What happens if you suffer from illness, injury, theft or a cancellation? With travel insurance, you can have peace of mind and not worry. We love World Nomads travel insurance and have been using it for years. Their comprehensive coverage is second to none and their online claims process is very user friendly.

⭐️ SAFETY & SECURITY — All travelers can sometimes encounter danger when traveling. CloseCircle is your “virtual body guard” mobile app which provides security alerts and support wherever you are in the world. They have a 24/7 emergency response team monitoring their users who will contact you immediately if the SOS swipe button is activated. Support can include anything from practical advice, to free evacuation from areas with extreme weather or security risks. You can read more about CloseCircle in our article about how to stay safe whilst traveling.

⭐️ ONLINE ANONYMITY — A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a must in many countries: it allows you to surf anonymously and maintain your privacy whilst traveling. You'll particularly need it in countries where dating apps are blocked by the government. We recommend ExpressVPN, a reliable and cost effective service which we used and loved during our travels.

⭐️ HOTELS or APARTMENTS — When we plan a trip, we always look for the best hotel deals. We love Booking.com because not only do they have a comprehensive listing of accommodation options, they also offer the best prices. Added bonus: they provide 24/7 support and free cancellation for most listings.

⭐️ SIGHTSEEING and ADVENTURES — When we travel somewhere, we like to seek out the best experiences, whether it is cooking with locals in Bangkok, hiking on a glacier in Patagonia, or going on a wildlife safari in Sri Lanka. Our favorite place to look is GetYourGuide because they have over 30,000 highly rated activities, a user-friendly booking process with free cancellation and a 24 hour customer support.

BUT WHO IS JEN?

The Jen brand is based on the virtual personal “Jen”: a professional hotelier and all time lover of life, travel and discovery.

Jen wanted a Chinese name to reflect this and Jin (meaning ‘today’) is about the importance of living every day to its fullest and in the moment. We like this idea!

HOTEL JEN: WOW, WHAT A VIEW!

Hotel Jen is centrally located directly above Orchardgateway – one of Singapore’s newest shopping malls and above the Somerset MRT station.

It is 19km from Singapore Changi International Airport and around 35 minutes on the MRT. There’s a direct lift access from the hotel lobby to Somerset MRT station.

The location of Hotel Jen above Orchardgateway mall and the Somerset MRT means it has some incredible views across the city.

OUR ROOM AT HOTEL JEN

Our room was on the 20th floor and the first thing you fall in love with is the view. Imagine waking up to this every morning…

The rooms are tastefully decorated, with really comfortable large bed and power shower with modern comforts like air con and flat screen TV.

Jen is certainly hardworking: she’s clearly put a lot of effort in decorating her rooms and boy do they look cool!

RELAXATION AND EXERCISING WITH JEN

Jen has gone to a lot of effort to ensure relaxation seekers and fitness gym bunnies are both satisfied.

The pool area is incredible! The pool itself is great for morning laps and also has a Jacuzzi. The surrounding area is also great for pool parties or just relaxing.

SOCIALISE WITH A GLASS OF WINE AT THE CLUB LOUNGE

The Club Lounge is a lavish affair with breakfast available in the morning, tea/coffee, snacks throughout the day and a delicious buffet dinner in the evening, with free flowing wine and alcohol.

It’s a great place to meet and socialise with other guests. It is also perfect for working, particularly with the free high speed WiFi available. With an incredible view to match!
