Best gay cruises not to miss in 2025 and 2026

We explore all the best upcoming gay cruises including party cruises, river cruises, adventure cruises, clothing-optional options and many, many more!

Let's get ship faced…we're going on a gay cruise!

We love going on a cruise, especially with our fabulous LGBTQ family in hand! From the moment we both came out many many many moons ago, it was always our dream to go on an all-male gay cruise.

Since those days, the number of gay cruises available has mushroomed. As well as the large party-orientated ones like Atlantis, there are now gay cruises going to places beyond the well-trodden pink destinations – like India, Indonesia, and even Antarctica and the Galapagos Islands! There are even many gay nude cruises you can go on…yes that's right, one boat, 10 men, all in the flesh…you get the idea!

Gay couple travel book Nomadic Boys Out in the World

In this guide, we've put together some of the best gay cruises to look forward to in 2024, which include all LGBTQ cruises (i.e. not just male-only ones)…and oh boy are we spoilt for choice!

Heads up: We just wanted to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. That means if you book something through one of those links, we'll get a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It helps us keep our blog going – so thank you in advance for your support! ♥

How to pick the ideal gay cruise for you?

There are many different types of gay cruises available including ones that are action-packed to the more gentle river cruises, slowly sauntering down the Danube, stopping at local wineries along the way…

Gay cruises take place on large ships but also on small luxurious yachts, catamarans, and even on traditional sailing boats.

Whether you’re looking to party with thousands of gay guys or instead cycle among historic towns before relaxing with a drink at sunset back on board (for the record we enjoy both of these!), there's a cruise for you! We’ve sorted through all the different gay cruise options available, padded it out with our personal experience to inspire you, and help you plan the ideal gay cruise for you.

Just be aware that some gay cruises are exclusively gay, meaning you will only be sailing with other gay guests. Others are female-only. Others are more inclusive for the entire LGBTQ+ family. And others are mixed, welcome to everyone. In addition, other gay cruises may be part of a larger (non-gay) cruise aboard a large ship.

1. Gay river cruises

Going on a cruise doesn’t necessarily mean we'll be taking to the high seas. Many luxurious cruises take place on famous rivers, particularly in Europe, Asia, and India. We love them because it's ideal for relaxing whilst also exploring cute villages, wineries, and other iconic sites along the way.

Gay river cruises are usually relaxed and super romantic, making them ideal for couples. But we also recommend them for those seeking a cruise with a strong focus on culture.

2. Clothing-optional or gay nude cruises

It's every gay boy's dream. No? It was a Bucket List item for us before hitting our 40s to try out a gay nude cruise. And they're great – everything you imagined…and more! We love it so much that we've dedicated an entire article to the best gay nude cruises!

Gay nude cruises are usually hosted on small yachts or catamarans, and often in warm gay friendly destinations – so frolicking around in your birthday suit won't be an issue! Some are exclusively gay and nude. Others are ‘clothing-optional', removing the pressure to be au naturel if you don’t want to.

3. Gay party cruises

For a fun-filled cruise packed with plenty of hot young guys and lots of great parties, check out some of the bigger gay cruise companies like Atlantis or La Demence. These take place on large cruise ships, and have large swimming pools, bars, a range of live entertainment, drag acts, internationally acclaimed DJs, a gay, a 24-hour darkroom…!!

They usually attract a younger crowd of guys (compared to other types of gay cruises), so everyone 20 years old and up. When we went (in our early 40s), we felt like we were in the middle of the age range. Everyone is welcome aboard. Everyone is here to have fun!

4. Gay cruises for single travelers

Single travelers are often daunted at the prospect of going on a cruise alone as you usually have to pay an expensive single supplement to have a room to yourself.

If you still want to join a gay cruise but without paying the unfair ‘singles' supplement, we recommend picking a cruise company that offers a program to pair you up with a bunkmate with similar interests. This way you can still enjoy everything the cruise has to offer, plus you’ll meet at least one new squirrel friend. For example, VACAYA offers a Solo Traveling with Ease Program where you complete a questionnaire to allow them to pair you up with a like-minded travel buddy. Other gay cruises that offer a similar program include Atlantis and GaySail. Read more about the best gay cruises for singles in our full post.

5. Adventure gay cruises

Do you enjoy your luxury with a slice of adrenaline? Oh we most certainly do!

Some excellent gay cruises include exhilarating activities like snorkeling, SCUBA diving, hiking, or getting up close and personal with wildlife. Generally, you will need a reasonable level of fitness to take part in all the fun activities on this type of cruise.

We love Out Adventures for gay adventure cruises, particularly their Galapagos gay cruise. If your Bucket List travel destination is Antarctica, we recommend reading our guide to the best gay cruises to Antarctica.

6. Gay cruises for bears

If you identify as a Bear, a Cub, or just a friend of the Bear community there are a range of excellent gay cruises exclusively for the Bear community. BearCruises is the leader in exclusive gay cruises for bears (and their fans). The BearCruises' gay cruise usually visits places like gay Hawaii or the super gay Puerto Vallarta!

7. Gay cruises for lesbians

Don’t worry ladies, we haven’t forgotten you! It’s not all about the gay men. Some companies organize exclusive women-only cruises to a range of stunning locations.

Olivia Travel is the leader in lesbian and female-only cruises, sailing to exotic locations like Tahiti.

You’ll get to go inside the tombs of Egypt’s only openly gay governors Khnumhotep and Niankhkhnum. Shocking right? In a country like Egypt!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Egypt without pyramid spotting. Your guide will be a fountain of knowledge on the history of Giza and floor you with tales of the mythical Sphinx. Or you’ll be popping into the Royal Tombs in the Valley of the Kings. A true highlight is seeing Hatshepsut’s temple – a badass female pharaoh who dressed and ruled like a king.

Whilst the large ship has drag shows, comedy shows, and karaoke rooms, the real highlight is the daily parties that kick off at 11 pm. On some days there is a second party in the afternoon.
