Our favorite gay bed and breakfasts in London, perfect for when you want to feel at home, stick to a budget, and stay somewhere with real character.
Let’s not sugarcoat it: London is eye-wateringly expensive. We’ve paid less for flights to Asia than we have for a weekend in London Zone 1. Honestly, if Seby ever disappears, check the Ritz, he’s probably taken out a mortgage for a night…
That’s why, when we’re in town, we’ve learned to be smart about where we stay. B&Bs and Airbnbs have saved our bacon (and our bank accounts) more times than we can count, and not just because they’re cheaper than hotels. You often get more space, more personality, an intimate stay, and occasionally, a cat named Nigel who judges your life choices from the windowsill.

Over the years, we’ve slept our way around London (accommodation-wise!) and found some absolute gems. From cozy queer-run guesthouses to stylish Airbnbs near all the London gay nightlife hotspots. But like most good things in this city, they’ve been priced out faster than you can say “Zone 1 rent!”
While there aren’t any official gay bed and breakfasts in London left, there are plenty of gay B&Bs on platforms like Misterb&b that still give us that warm, homey vibe.

STAY WITH A GAY LOCAL
Misterb&b is the Airbnb equivalent for the LGBTQ community. Unlike on Airbnb, you know your host is gay, avoiding any nasty surprises when you check in. It's also a great way to meet gay locals and discover the underground gay scene. Click below to get €10 / $10 off your first booking.
What's the difference between a gay bed and breakfast and a gay hotel?
The main difference is that a gay B&B offers a more personalized and cozy experience. We’re talking hosts who care if you slept well, and who’ll happily spill the tea on the best gay bars, local hidden gems, and possibly even where to find a decent bottle of rosé after midnight.
Typically, you'll stay in a place with around 1 to 3 rooms, and the gay host will usually live there as well. If breakfast is offered, it will likely be homemade (as opposed to a hotel breakfast buffet).
The other big difference between a gay bed and breakfast and a hotel is, of course, the price. In an expensive city like London, gay B&Bs are the Beyoncé of budget travel.
Bottom line? If you’re into good vibes, local tips, and breakfast with a side of potential flirtation, skip the hotels. London's gay B&B scene is serving, and we are here for it!

How to find a gay bed and breakfast in London?
Before the rise of booking platforms such as Airbnb, most gay owners would rely on their property being listed on their personal website, which would then be promoted on their Facebook page.
We used to stay in the lovely gay-owned Fitz B&B, near Soho, but sadly, due to the rise in commercial rents in Central London, it closed its doors for good after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today, we rely on Misterbnb to find gay bed and breakfasts where the host's photo will be displayed, along with full details of the property, its location, and what is included in the price of the room.

Cozy Studio in Islington
Islington

Why we love it
- Breakfast included
- clothing optional
- Nearest tube/train: Arsenal
- Price from £47
This cozy Misterb&b near Arsenal tube ticks a lot of our boxes: quiet residential area, super easy access to central London, and breakfast.
You’re just 15-20 minutes from the gay bars of Soho and gay clubs like Roast near Angel tube.
There’s something about this place that just feels easy. The host’s got glowing reviews for being super laid-back and friendly. The space is clean, calm, and has that ‘make yourself at home’ energy. Oh, and it’s clothing optional… which kind of says it all. It’s relaxed, it’s body-positive, and no one’s judging you for padding around in a towel or absolutely nothing at all.
It’s a great pick if you’re after something affordable and low-key. Plus, it feels more like staying with a cool gay friend than a sterile hotel, but one who cooks you breakfast and won’t judge your outfit choices.
02
Riverside apartment in Fulham/Chelsea
Fulham/Chelsea

Why we love it
- Breakfast included
- Clothing optional
- Nearest tube/train: Imperial Wharf
- Prices from £70
This Misterb&b near Imperial Wharf is giving us everything we want in a London stay: peaceful location, easy access to central, and a breakfast that doesn’t come in a paper bag.
Honestly, Seby would book it for the coffee alone.
The vibe? Super chill, clothing optional, and totally body-positive. Not an org-y, but also… pack accordingly 🙂 We’re not saying you’ll end up sipping tea in a towel, but the option’s there. The host gets rave reviews for being warm, welcoming, and the kind of person who actually has answers when you ask, “Where’s good on a Thursday?”
If you're after a space that feels more like a mini gay retreat than a corporate shoebox, this is it. Comfy bed, good chat, no judgement.
03
Apartment in Norwood Junction
Norwood Junction

Why we love it
- Breakfast included
- Clothing optional
- Nearest tube/train: Norwood Junction
- Prices from £50
This Misterb&b near Norwood Junction is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re staying at your cool gay mate’s house, the one with great taste, zero judgement, and a surprisingly good omelette game.
You’re about 25 minutes from central London, but honestly, we’d be happy just lazing around here all day. Breakfast is included, and the host gets glowing reviews for being warm, funny, and full of solid local tips.
Oh, and it’s clothing optional. No big deal, just… maybe don’t pack your tightest jeans. This one is a handy base if you're heading to one of the gay London festivals, such as Mighty Hoopla Festival in Brockwell Park or the queer Maiden Voyage Festival at Burgess Park.
04
Modern apartment in Greenwich Park with garden
Greenwich

Why we love it
- Breakfast included
- Clothing optional
- Nearest tube/train: Kidbrooke Station
- Prices from £70
This apartment by Kidbrooke station is pure undercover London luxury: leafy, low-key, and perfectly placed for a cheeky hop into central without feeling like you’re living in a concrete bunker.
Also, no one here will ask why you’re chilling in your pyjamas at noon.
The host? Total legend. Super chill, knows the area inside out, and gives recommendations like a gay Google Maps with better cheekbones.
Oh, and clothing optional. We’re not saying you’ll prance around naked with a cheeky grin, but the option is there.
05
Slave optional in Cricklewood
Cricklewood

Why we love it
- Breakfast included
- Slave optional!
- Nearest tube/train: Cricklewood
- Prices from £25
We’ve scrolled through a lot of Misterb&b listings in our time, but this Cricklewood gem stands out for so many reasons…
For just £25 a night, you get a bed, breakfast, and, wait for it, the host offers himself as your personal slave. You’re invited to message him in advance and discuss the, er, terms of service 😊
Aside from that spicy little footnote, it’s a low-key, no-frills spot with transport links (Cricklewood station nearby) and a decent price tag that is rare to find in London.
This isn’t your standard gay B&B experience, unless your standard involves dominance, submission, and a tray of toast. But if you’re curious, kinky, or just enjoy collecting wild travel stories… this one’s got your name written all over it.
06
Naked apartment in Brixton with hot tub
Brixton

Why we love it
- Breakfast not included
- Clothing optional with hot tub
- Nearest tube/train: Brixton
- Price: £100-£225 depending on room choice
This Brixton apartment is clothing optional, hot tub included, and two room options depending on your budget.
It’s set in a quiet residential area just a short walk from Brixton station, which means you're minutes from the gay scene in Vauxhall and Clapham.
There’s a cheaper room for those keeping it cute on a budget, or a more private option if you want the full “main character in a gay indie film” experience. Either way, you’ve got access to the hot tub, a chilled host, and zero judgement if you decide trousers are cancelled for the weekend.
It’s fun, sexy, and definitely one of the more memorable stays in London. Just pack your confidence and maybe a waterproof phone case.

Travel, Twerk, and Chill!
Don’t be that queen who skips travel insurance. ‘Cause nothing ruins a trip faster than tears, tantrums, and tragic bills…
Stay covered, stay fabulous, and keep your vacation free, fun, and frivolous!
What are the best alternatives to gay bed and breakfasts in London?
We once stayed in a budget hotel in London where the “double bed” was two singles held together by sheer optimism and a fitted sheet. Never again.
Thankfully, we’ve since learned how to sniff out the good ones. Affordable hotels that are comfy, well-located, and don’t smell like disappointment. They’re not B&Bs, but they’re solid alternatives that are well-located, easy on the wallet, and give us just enough space for Seby’s skincare and my emotional baggage.
Here are a few budget-friendly London hotels we’ve stayed at and loved. For a more in-depth guide, read our article about the best gay hotels in London.
01
The Z Hotel
Soho

Why we love it
- #TravelProud certified
- Centrally located in the Soho gay scene
- Continental breakfast available for a fee
- Prices from £115
We’ve stayed at The Z Hotel Soho a few times now, usually when we know we’ll be out late in the gay bars and can’t face a long Tube ride home in glittery shame.
It’s right in the heart of Soho, which means you’re steps from Ku Bar, Comptons, and whichever cocktail haunt traps you for, “just one more”.
The rooms? Small. Like, “don’t open your suitcase too fast or you’ll knock Seby off the bed,” small. But they’re clean, comfy, and perfect for a quick city break when all you need is a shower, a sleep, and maybe a place to reapply concealer.
It’s also #TravelProud certified by Booking.com, so you know you’re in safe hands — no awkwardness, just friendly vibes from the second you check in. If you want to be where the action is without annihilating your budget, this is a solid bet.
02
The Borough (formerly London City Hotel)
Borough

In a nutshell
- #TravelProud certified
- Good base for the Vauxhall gay scene and Feel It gay club
- Close to Tate Modern
- Prices from £95
We booked The Borough when we were heading to the Friday Feel It party in Borough, and honestly, it was the perfect base.
We could freshen up, head out, dance ourselves into oblivion, and still be back in bed before the Uber surge made us cry.
The location is spot-on. It's walking distance to the Feel It gay club and a short hop from the gay clubs in Vauxhall like Beyond and Union. And the next morning, we wandered over to the Tate Modern for a little post-party culture fix. Because yes, you can rave all night and appreciate abstract sculpture before lunch.
The rooms are clean, comfy, and surprisingly quiet, ideal for sleeping off whatever (or whoever!) happened on the dancefloor. It’s also #TravelProud certified by Booking.com, so you know LGBTQ+ travelers are more than welcome here.
03
Moxy London Stratford (Marriott)
Stratford

In a nutshell
- #Travelproud certified
- Useful base for the East London gay scene, like Adonis gay club
- Well-connected, close to Stratford Station
- Prices from £120
We stayed at the Moxy Stratford for a weekend of East London adventures, mainly because it’s dangerously close to the Adonis gay club in Silvertown.
The hotel’s got a fun vibe. Bright colours, bold design, and Seby immediately claimed a chair in the lobby like he was auditioning for an interiors show. It feels more like staying at your trendy mate’s flat than a typical chain hotel.
Stratford’s surprisingly well-connected too — the Lizzie Line whisks you into central in minutes, or you can stay local and lean into the East London chaos.
The rooms are small but comfy, with good showers and blackout curtains that saved us the next morning. And it’s Travel Proud certified, so check-in was smooth, friendly, and entirely unbothered by two men arriving with suspiciously well-packed overnight bags.
HEADS UP: when getting an Uber back late, make sure you put Moxy Stratford in the app and NOT Moxy London Excel, which is the other one in East London close to London City Airport. I did this by mistake. Twice!
