Ruby Princess

We sail on the Ruby Princess, which CruiseCritic rates 4.5 out of 5. They say despite carrying 3,000 guests, she never feels crowded. The service is noticeably good and overall the crew makes an effort to offer personalized and intimate service, even while being on a big ship.

Cruiseline.com recommends the Ruby because of the top notch entertainment, great food and varied dining venues, and superior service all around the ship

U.S. News and World Report ranks the Ruby as the sixth best ship for singles, the seventh best cruise ship for sailing to Alaska, and within Princess’s fleet, the Ruby is the second best ship overall. Debuting in 2008, the Ruby was completely refurbished in 2018, and then upgraded again in 2023. She boasts four pools, one of which is under a retractable roof (handy in cooler Alaska).

Itinerary

The fun begins the moment you board the Ruby Princess—which has been designed from bow to stern for your fun and enjoyment. As we sail out of Vancouver, we’ll gather for a hosted Welcome Aboard Party. Here, you’ll meet your fellow cruisers and start making new friends right away. We’ll then sail past Vancouver’s picturesque downtown which is surrounded by water and mountains. We’ll sail to Alaska using the Inside Passage, with its calmer seas, which help prevent seasickness

Our first full day is at sea. Relax, unwind and get into vacation mode. Lounge on your private balcony or near one of the pools, or maybe even find a quiet nook to settle in with a book. Want to be more active on your day at sea? Play bingo, work out at the gym, watch a movie, dance all night, attend a cooking seminar, soak in a hot tub, watch a sunset (or a sunrise), play trivia games, sing along at the piano bar, do some wine tasting, check your email or surf the internet, grab a snack, watch live entertainment, get lucky in the casino, indulge in a spa treatment, catch the game in the sports bar, and on and on.

Welcome to the only state capital in the USA that cannot be reached by land: Juneau. You’ll have all day to explore Alaska’s small but vibrant capital. You can literally walk to Mendenhall Glacier and stand before it in awe and wonderment. Dogsledding, glacier flightseeing, and Mount Roberts Tramway are all options in this too-much-to-do-in-just-one-day port.

Our next stop is in Skagway, the gateway to gold fields over 100 years ago. At one time more than 20,000 people lived here, now less than 1,000. But it retains the flavor of the gold rush era. You can relive those gold rush days at the Red Onion Saloon (Skagways most notorious bordello, now turned restaurant/bar) or ride the White Pass & Yukon Railroad. Or get more active horseback riding, dogsledding, ziplining, or even wild river rafting!

A National Park Service Ranger will join us for the day to give commentary on all the sights and sounds around you. You’ll likely spot bald eagles, seals, bears and whales on our way to see the centerpiece: tidewater glaciers. Here, you’ll see (and hear!) the glaciers expel enormous chunks of ice into the waters below (called “calving”). You’ll sail past floating icebergs (cue a “My Heart Will Go On” sing-along), and rest at different spots for the best views of the glaciers, waterfalls too numerous to be named, and the abundant wildlife all around you. You may view from upper decks, but this is one day you’ll be especially glad if you have your own private balcony!

Our last stop in The Last Frontier is its most quaint and alluring: Ketchikan. Here you’ll be intrigued by its rich Native heritage, which includes the world’s oldest collection of totem poles at the Totem Heritage Center. The town itself has fantastic boutique shops, bars and restaurants; much of it built on stilts over the shore. Nearby is sport fishing, nature galore, cultural shows (including a Lumberjack Show that is sure to amaze), and the freshest salmon you’ll ever taste

Another fun filled day at sea. All that stuff you didn't do on Day 2? Today's the day to fit it in!

Welcome back--relaxed and rejuvenated, and full of memories that will last a lifetime!

Daddy Cruise® FAQs

A:

The cost of the cruise covers your cabin, tons of food and beverages (excluding alcohol and soft drinks; you'll pay extra for those), all the Daddy Cruise® benefits, entertainment on board and so much more. But, there are additional things you'll want to budget for: travel protection insurance (I never travel without it); excursions (you're free to disembark in each port, but the experience is much better if you join an organized outing with us, or with the cruise line); transportation to/from the ship (flights, ground transfers); and a pre-cruise hotel (the ship will not wait for you if your flight is late for whatever reason, so I always recommend you arrive at least one day before).

A:

We’ve already calculated that into the prices listed. If you bring a friend to share your room, your individual costs go down. Because of the low prices we got for this sailing, we regret that we are unable to offer our Roommate Match program for this cruise.

A:

Yes. While this cruise is designed and priced specifically for single guests, couples and throuples are welcome, too.

A:

Of course! While we cater to the LGBTQ community, our allies are always welcome!

A:

You're always welcome to participate as much, or as little as you like. No pressure from us to engage, no hassle if you opt to sit anything out! We'll be there to welcome and encourage you at whatever level of engagement feels right for you.

A:

Enjoy it! We will offer plenty of opportunities to connect with the rest of us, but nothing is required. Dine with us, or on your own, or with a friend, or even in your own cabin (room service is free!). Join one of our private excursions, or go with one offered by the cruise line, or explore a port on your own, or stay on board. It's your vacation—spend it however you like!

A:

Ships are designed to minimize this, and there are several ways you can minimize that risk even more: from patches you wear, to pills you take, to even the location of your cabin on the ship (which can make a difference—ask us for guidance!). Those who do get seasick experience minor discomfort and find bed rest (while maybe catching up on a movie in your room?) helps.

A:

Absolutely not! Large, all-gay cruises have a reputation for this, but we'll be on a regular ship with a thousand other guests of all persuasions. You're certainly welcome to hook up with others if you want to, discreetly of course.

A:

Typically, most of our guests are middle aged or senior gay men, but a lot of younger guys join us as well. All races are represented, as are all genders and those of varying physical abilities. Allies (non-LGBTQ people) are always welcome.

With Daddys onboard, even elevator rides are fun!
